Well I finally got the time to take some photos of my “new” GT Junior. I first saw this car when I was on a road trip from San Francisco to Las Vegas back in 1994. Back then my ’74 GTV was my daily driver and I thought nothing of taking it on the 10 hr drive. I had just made it into Las Vegas when my clutch went out! It was a Friday night and needless to say I thought the chance of finding someone to work on the car was next to impossible. I found myself a hotel and crashed for the night. The next morning I opened the yellow pages and found a shop called Italy Service. Luckily the owner was there and he agreed to look at my car. He replaced my upper clutch master cylinder; which then blew out the lower one so he fixed that. Then my clutch pedal broke at the firewall, he welded that up, and then after all of this I somehow lost 4th, 5th, and reverse in my transmission. I had to drive home in 4th with the shifter tied to my cigarette lighter. During my weekend at his shop fixing my car I spent a lot of time looking at this beautiful GT Junior. He was the 2nd owner of the car and had found it in a repo lot back in 1985. He restored the car painted it red from its original color of “Moss Green”. The car has been stored inside the lobby of his shop since the late 80’s.

While on a trip to Las Vegas this past July I went in to say hi and thank him for fixing my car some 10 years earlier. The GT Junior was still in the same place. We talked about the car and he agreed to sell it to me. That put into motion me selling my ’74 to come up with the funds to purchase the car. On October 1st my fiance and I flew to Las Vegas and drove the GT Junior home. It’s got a 2L engine with FI, headers, performance cams, hi-compression pistons and not a single muffler on the car. I was expecting to see webers on the car, but I have to say the FI runs super nice and it’s really fast! I was getting 25mpg on the trip back home to S.F., The car needs a new paint job, the paint is cracking, proper gas tank, lower ball joints, new springs, new tires, and maybe a muffler?

My plans for this car are only to have a blast driving it and fixing anything mechanical. I'm not planning on painting it anytime soon.

Thanks,

Jeff
